Why You Should Go to Napa Valley this Winter

December 23, 2019
Category: Napa Valley Information

The peak season for Napa Valley’s wine country is between August and October. But if you go in the winter, you’ll enjoy a number of benefits that are hard to find in the busier summer and fall months. For instance, a January trip to wine country offers smaller crowds, better hotel rates and newly released cabernet sauvignons.

If you’re looking to break up the winter season or fight the winter blues, a trip to Napa Valley may be the pick-me-up you need. Below are a few experiences to look forward to.

Purchase a Winter Wineries Passport

A Winter Wineries Passport is just $60 per person, and it’s good until February 9th, 2020. With this passport, you are treated to complimentary wine tasting flights at 16 wineries in Calistoga. Also include in the passport are free corkage at participating restaurants and discounts at Calistoga spas and shops. Buy yours today at visitcalistoga.com.

Napa Lighted Art Festival 2020

Just because the holidays are over doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy a great light show! The Napa Lighted Art Festival is a nine-day festival that is free to the public. It’s held on January 11th-19th, 6-9pm Monday-Thursday and 6-10pm Friday-Sunday.

For this festival, Napa’s historic and modern buildings are transformed into architectural masterpieces by local and international artists. As you walk through Downtown Napa, the Oxbow District and other locations in Napa, the artwork is illuminated using innovative lights, interactive technology, 3D video mapping projections and more.

Napa Valley Truffle Festival

Another highlight of January is the Napa Valley Truffle Festival. If you love a good truffle, you’ll have an amazing time at this festival, which brings together the experts in truffle growing, cooking and eating. The event is held on January 17th-20th, 2020, with various locations and prices. Some events are free. You can buy your tickets and learn more about the festival at napatrufflefestival.com.

Napa Valley Restaurant Week

Napa Valley’s Restaurant Week is held in January, which also happens to be the time when hotel prices are at some of their lowest rates. If you pay a visit to wine country during this week, you can stay at a boutique hotel and dine at five-star restaurants for a fraction of the price. This week runs from January 26th-February 1st, 2020. Check out participating restaurants at visitnapavalley.com

Napa Valley Hotel and Suites offers generous discounts for the months of January and February. Book your stay today and take advantage of fewer crowds, reasonable rates and the activities listed above.
