ARRIVAL DATE
Dec 21
DEPARTURE DATE
Dec 22

September is back-to-school month for many, but for those who appreciate the fine arts in Napa Valley, this month is all about open studios and art festivals. The area already kicked off the season with the Napa Valley Arts Festival in mid-August. Over Labor Day weekend, there was the Sausalito Art Festival and Napa Artisan’s Festival. But the fun doesn’t stop there. All of September is a wonderful time to take advantage of open studios and see the works of world-renowned artists.

Later in the month, Napa Valley Open Studios will be celebrating its 26th annual tour on September 21 & 22, and then again on the 28 & 29 from 10 am – 5 pm. The weekend tours are self-guided, giving visitors the opportunity to enjoy fine works of art at their leisure. The works will be coming from Napa Valley painters, sculptors, photographers, jewelry makers, glass artists and ceramicists. Not only will visitors have the opportunity to view these pieces of art, but also they can meet with the artists themselves.

Visitors can also take advantage of Ma(i)sonry Napa Valley that is located in Yountville. This wine tasting gallery features sculptures and collections of art that are available for purchase. New displays come with each season, so there is always something new to check out.

Napa Valley’s Long History with Arts

Art has always been an important part of Napa Valley culture, and the community is practically embedded in art itself. With the rolling vineyards, towering trees and mountainous backdrop, Napa looks like a page right out of a painting book. When attending open studios, take in all of the details. Meet with the artists, let them explain their paintings and use this information to create your own take on the work.

Some people may even find that certain pieces of work speak to them, much like shopping at a pet shop. If there’s a piece you really love but can’t afford, you may be able to purchase a work-in-progress. It’s always fun to see how an art collection can evolve over the years. There is something amazing about being involved in the arts culture in Napa Valley, so don’t miss the opportunity.
