Places to Go with the Kids in Napa Valley

July 15, 2020
Category: Napa Getaway

It’s a misconception that Napa Valley is just for adults. Even though this area draws in girls’ nights out and romantic getaways, it’s also a great place for families. Napa Valley is safe and has plenty of outdoor activities, restaurants and hotels that the whole family can enjoy. Plus, it’s a nice break from the traditional amusement parks and water parks that you’ve probably vacationed at.

Here are some of the top things to do in Napa Valley with the kids. Keep in mind that most outdoor activities – hiking, picnicking, hot air balloon riding – are all fine to do as a family as well.

Connolly Ranch

Connolly Ranch is a working farm in the heart of Napa Valley. It teaches kids all about nature, organic gardening and the role animals play in nature. The farm offers an education center and a Saturday Farm Camp where adults can spend time exploring Napa Valley while the kids play on the 12-acre ranch.

Sterling Vineyards

Sterling Vineyards offers something very unique that both adults and kids will love – the aerial tram ride! This is the only one of its kind in Napa Valley, offering spectacular views as you ride up to the winery. You can get a tram ticket when you make a reservation for a wine tasting, and families are always welcome.

Castello di Amorosa

Another family-friendly winery is Castello di Amorosa because it’s located in a medieval-inspired Tuscan castle complete with drawbridges, dungeons and animals out front. While you’re enjoying a delicious glass of wine, the kids get fresh grape juice. The winery also provides a table with coloring pages to keep little ones busy.

Old Faithful Geyser

Old Faithful (a smaller version of Yellowstone’s Old Faithful) is a geyser located in Calistoga, CA. It erupts every 15-30 minutes when the geyser blows off steam for a dramatic show that all ages will marvel at. While waiting for the geyser to erupt, you can enjoy an afternoon picnic, a petting zoo with llamas and horned sheep or the Geology Museum, which has free admission.
